I'm sorry but I don't want to be an Emperor - that's not my business - I don't want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone if possible, Jew, gentile, black man, white. We all want to help one another, human beings are like that.
We want to live by each other's happiness, not by each other's misery. We don't want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone and the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone.
The way of life can be free and beautiful.
But we have lost the way.
Greed has poisoned men's souls - has barricaded the world with hate; has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed.
We have developed speed but we have shut ourselves in: machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical, our cleverness hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little: More than machinery we need humanity; More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.
The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness
in men, cries out for universal brotherhood for the unity of us all. Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world, millions of despairing men, women and little children, victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people. To those who can hear me I say Do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed, the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress: the hate of men will pass and dictators die, and the power they took from the people, will return to the people and so long as men die, liberty will never perish...
Soldiers - don't give yourselves to brutes, men who despise you, enslave you - who regiment your lives, tell you what to
do, what to think and what to feel, who drill you, diet you, treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder!
Don't give yourselves to these unnatural men, machine men, with machine minds and machine hearts! You are not machines! You are not cattle! You are men! You have the love of humanity in your hearts. You don't hate - only the unloved hate - the unloved and the unnatural. Soldiers - don't fight for slavery, fight for liberty!
In the seventeenth chapter of Saint Luke it is written the kingdom of God is within man - not one man, nor a group of men - but in all men - in you! You the people have the power, the power to create machines, the power to create happiness! You the people have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure! Then in the name of democracy let us use that power - let us all unite!!! Let us fight for a new world, a decent world that will give men a
chance to work, that will give you the future and old age and security. By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to
power, but they lie! They do not fulfil their promise, they never will! Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people! Now let us fight to fulfil that promise! Let us fight to free the world, to do away with national barriers, to do away with greed, with hate and intolerance! Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men's happiness.

过去对于卓别林的认识仅限于那个滑稽的流浪汉，觉得他是个幽默的人道主义者，用微笑擦去穷人脸上的泪水。今天看了《大独裁者》，才明白，他是一个真正的理想主义者，一个缔造美好未来的艺术家，一个伟大的造梦者！

遗憾得很，我并不想当皇帝，那不是我干的行当。我既不想统治任何人，也不想征服任何人。
如果可能的话，我倒挺想帮助所有的人，不论是犹太人还是非犹太人，是黑种人还是白种人。

我们都要互相帮助。
做人就是应当如此。
我们要把生活建筑在别人的幸福上，而不是建筑在别人的痛苦上。
我们不要彼此仇恨，互相鄙视。
这个世界上有足够的地方让所有的人生活。
大地是富饶的，是可以使每一个人都丰衣足食的。

生活的道路可以是自由的，美丽的，只可惜我们迷失了方向。
贪婪毒化了人的灵魂，在全世界筑起仇恨的壁垒，强迫我们踏着正步走向苦难，进行屠杀。
我们发展了速度，但是我们隔离了自己。

　　故事有两条线索，看似无关但是休息相关，两条线索的主人公都由卓别林扮演，充分展现了一个全能喜剧表演天才的功力，而剧情的设计，尤其是许多喜剧情景的设计，堪称经典。

一、剧情梗概

　　一战期间，犹太理发师在前线参加同盟国军队中服役，在紧张的战争期间他错误百出：作拉炮手时差点把自己人当了炮灰；丢手榴弹却不小心扔进了自己衣服里；拿着武器在烟雾中闯进了敌军的阵营……不过他也做了一件好事，就是救下了一名盟军飞行员，不过这个飞行员已经身负重伤，导致两个人在飞机上历经惊险，比如说飞机倒着飞，飞机突然没有油……最终飞机着陆，两人得救，同时得知战争已经失败，而理发师却失去了记忆。

　　失去记忆的理发师回到了自已在犹太人聚集区的理发店，并且对纳粹政权对于犹太人的高压政策一无所知。因此，当两个突击队士兵窗外标记“JEWS”的时候与他发生了斗殴，在这场斗殴之中，他得到了一个正直勇敢的女孩汉娜的帮助；然而，大批突击队士兵马上赶到，正准备将他用绳子吊死的时候，一个高级军官出现了，这个军官就是在战争中被他救下的飞行员舒兹，他命令所有的突击队不得骚扰此处。

　　与此同时，妄想统治世界的希特勒准备占领奥地利，出于资金压力，他想向犹太籍银行家借款，于是不得不暂时放松对犹太人的压制。理发师在一时的平静生活中和汉娜坠入爱河；然而好景不长，希特勒的借款计划失败，重新发动压制犹太人的暴行，而舒兹也因为反对这个政策遭到监禁；理发师和汉娜在一次约会之中得之了这个消息，大为失望，而此时冲击队正准备冲击犹太聚集区，而舒兹也逃到了这里，并且计划了一场轰炸皇宫的暗杀，不过这次暗杀被女孩否定，而在一次追捕行动之中，两人同时被抓并关进了集中营，而女孩汉娜和她的家人则逃往奥地利亲戚的葡萄园。

　　正在希特勒准备发动对奥战争时，传来了意大利纳粹头目墨索里尼已经在边境集兵的消息，墨索里尼还提出要前来德国进行谈判，其内务部长和宣传部长提出的对策就是在心理上压倒对方。

　　墨索里尼的到来也闹了不少笑话，两个独裁者为了在心理和国家利益上压制对方而明争暗斗：比如谁更高一点这；谁在镜头前更风光一点；虽然身在德国，但是墨索里尼也想尽办法占上风，不过最终以希特勒在先撤兵的协议上先签字作为妥协的条件，而德军立即入侵奥地利，女孩和家人的家园再一次遭受蹂躏。

　　在集中营，理发师和舒兹两人成功逃出，而在野外打猎的希特勒则被误认为是逃犯被带走，装着德军制服，身边有高级军官的理发师迷迷糊糊地就被当成了希特勒本人，并且在最后发表了充满人文关怀的演讲，这次演讲传到了她爱人的耳朵里。

二、喜剧性格的设计

　　希特勒：野心勃勃、阴险狡诈、情绪不稳定、通过艺术装B、说一套自创的演讲语言；老出错，做一些幼稚的事情；
　　海军部长：傻胖个，老出错，而且老让希特勒丢脸；
　　内务部长贾必基：富有头脑、阴险、冷静的家伙；
　　墨索里尼：好斗、好开玩笑、粗鲁（让我想起了赫鲁晓夫）

　　理发师：糊涂、直脑筋、贪生怕死但是心中有大爱；
三、经典喜剧场景

　　1、吃果冰那一幕：理发师如何紧张地千换百换自己的果冰；吃到了硬币后又如何千方百计想掩饰；最后又如何倒霉地把三个硬币全部吃进肚子里；打嗝的时候硬币如何在肚子里响；而正直的老人如何坦然自己吃到了硬币时又全部吐出来；女孩最后又跳出来说这是她的圈套……有好笑又感人又合理出人意料，可称为经典。

　　2、丢手榴弹那一幕：向同时请教如何丢手榴弹，他努力地学习如何丢，正式丢的时候不小心丢进了袖子里，从袖子滑进衣服里，又从衣服滑进裤子里，然后长官还跑进来说：喂，现在不是抓跳蚤的时候。这真是经典的设计！别林兄太有才！

　　3、两个教授的那一幕：第一个教授说自己发明了防弹衣，公务繁荣的希特勒一枪把他打死在地上；第二个教授说自己发明了降落伞并且从窗户外跳了下去，希特勒往低下看了一看说：为什么你总是要用这种方式浪费我的时间？不用画面，一切都在不言之中。同样搞笑的方式还有阅兵那一幕，用演员的表演来反映飞机出事，让观众去想象，这是高明的幽默感。

　　4、通过反映体制的愚蠢搞笑：四个军官看到炸弹出了问题，一个接着一个安排任务，最后到了理发师那里，后面已经没有人了，反映了一种社会现状，事情层层摊派，最后都是基层的人做了，这种搞笑方式值得学习。

　　5、飞机快要挂了，驾驶员还拿出烟说：嘿，兄弟，来一根吧。在一种极度紧张的情况下，角色还能够如何轻松，反差带来搞笑。

　　6、希特勒的演讲：讲到高昂之处要咳嗽；讲一套完全自创的语言（关键是观众都假装懂，而报幕员在一边翻译重点）；中间还要喝水，不是喝水，而是把水倒进裤子和衣领里；话筒似乎也被他的气场影响；最后被大屁股挤下台（严肃场合的出丑是别林大师常用搞笑手段）

　　7、吃芥茉一幕：两个独裁者吵得不可开交，希特勒在先吃到芥茉，辣得在沙发了打滚；墨索里尼哈哈大笑，马上自己在做汉堡时也吃到，两个人一起辣得打滚；不能说话，还要对骂。而两边的参谋官、记者的设计不但增加了故事的真实性，同时也增强了喜剧效果，越真实，越喜剧，这是厉害的设计啊。

　　8、鸿门宴一幕：宣传部长设计了连环的心理战术来打击墨索里尼，听起来天衣无缝：矮子座位、雕像、长长的走廊；最后全部被一一攻破；优秀的喜剧是从厉害中看到更厉害，从愚蠢中看到更愚蠢，此为证。

看完卓别林大神的第一部有声电影《大独裁者》，内心久久不能平静，特别是结尾那七分钟的演讲说出了大师在默片中一直想表达的一切，大师的早期作品大部分都是以小人物的故事来反应社会的现状，比如《流浪汉》《狗的生活》《摩登时代》等经典电影。又有像《从军记》那般通过战争军人的生活，来表达对于世界和平的追求，对于自由的向往。以前的作品都是以大师的幽默浮夸的动作来表达，而《大独裁者》是真正从大师口中说内向一直想要的梦想，这或许是电影世上最伟大的演讲吧！又或许是最伟大的一刻，大师庄严的把自己一生中最想表达的东西在七分钟都宣泄出来，这不仅仅是大师一个人的梦想，也是那个时代每个人的梦想。没有战争，世界和平。
        《大独裁者》这部电影是大师和妻子宝玲一起拍摄的，当时为了拍摄这部电影，差点弄的自己倾家荡产，况且拍摄这电影时希特勒还没有死，德国还是在二战占有绝对上分的国家。不得不佩服大师能在这种环境下拍摄一部这么伟大的电影，发表一段这么精彩的演讲。你的演讲打动了我们，你的表演征服了我们，你的电影陪伴了我们，我还能说什么呢！伟大如卓别林。

　　We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each other's happiness - not by each other's misery. We don't want to hate and despise one another. In this world there's room for everyone and the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone.

We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery we need humanity. More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.

To those who can hear me, I say: 'Do not despair.' The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed - the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish.
